The group met at the BCU School of Jewellery to view the display of this year&#8217;s jewellery and horology students&#8217; work. Our guide Andrew Howard introduced us to an impressive display of clocks, timepieces, and jewellery, before handing us over to a colleague for a comprehensive tour of the horological workshops and basement machine shop. It was explained that with rising numbers of horology students, workshop space was now at a premium and that many students were now being issued with lathes and other tools to work on their projects from home. Whilst there is no immediate solution to the space constraints, BHI members and guests were asked to direct any offers of unwanted clocks or horological tools to BCU where appropriate, to support expansion of the department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendees then proceeded to Birmingham City Museum and Art Gallery, where after lunch, the group visited the newly opened &#8220;Made in Birmingham&#8221; exhibition, and other exhibits.
